September has been a busy month where Apple traditionally announce the new iPhone and competitors such as Samsung try to steal some of that thunder. First off on September 4th we got a look at Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear Smart watch. The Galaxy gear will be a tethered device working only with Samsung Smart Phones. It’s doesn’t seem to be much beyond a phone remote control. The need for a Samsung device was a disappointing move, on the plus side they are now the most popular mobile device in the world. You can now pre-order Galaxy Gear for $300.
On September 10th Apple Announced the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. The leaks on these products were spot on with the 5C specs mirroring the old iPhone 5, the 5S containing a finger print sensor for authentication and the new gold/champagne color option. Still no announcement on a smartwatch from Apple but the real disappointment had to be the high price of the 5C at $549 off contract, hardly a budget phone. The slump in Apple’s share price again confirms investors disappointment that Apple has lost it’s wow factor with consumers for good post Jobs. The iPhone 5S will be $649-$849 off contract set for release September 20th.
