Once upon a time Rockmelt tried it’s hand at social-centric Chromium based desktop browser to search for content. Their browser emphasises social features relating to Facebook and Twitter. Users can tweet and chat with friends all within the browser. However, they were soon to change direction towards mobile curated content delivery. Rockmelt of iPhone and iPad was launched with a Pinterest styled masonry grid of visual tiles.
Co-founder and CTO Tim Howes explains, the new mission of Rockmelt is to help people navigate the web better. At first the web was navigated through URLs, then portals, then search, until now where there’s much more of a lean-back experience where our friends curate content for us.
Now Rockmelt has arrived on Android. The team have spent time perfecting the user experience for Android and not merely porting the iOS version.
Rockmelt aims to put the best of the web, news, and blogs at your fingertips. Rockmelt can be personalised to quickly discover and share the most viral, newsworthy, cute, interesting, and otherwise awesome stuff. You’ll find the best pictures, videos, and stories faster and finding new sites to love will be a cinch. You’ll be so on top of the news that you feel psychic. Soon, you’ll run faster, jump higher, be cooler, and Internet better!
Now you can discover and curate socially with Rockmelt on the web, or via Android and iOS.
