Yes, yet another movie game tie in. This time Jaden Smith gives us his version of The Hunger Games in the action flick After Earth. The game tie in comes from Reliance Games. I’ve read a few reviews of the film now with separate references to the movie itself having a game like structure. Some one needs to go and corner the movie-game market right away by the sounds of that. Create your own story never did reach primetime. Over several other movie endless runner game tie-ins the game at least has a little more relevance.
After Earth The Game is an endless runner with a few boss fights thrown in. The runner portions of the game are great mix of running, sliding, flying via wing suit and skip jacking. The controls follow that of the conventional endless runner such as Temple Run. Swipe left/right to turn, swipe down to slide, up to jump. After Earth adds a few nice features such as multiple lanes, wall running and bad guys along your path you must swipe to defeat along the way. As the game terrain changes the point of view changes to show you a new perspective handy for judging jumps.
The game can be played in career mode as a series of chapters or in marathon mode. The store menu provides lots of upgrades you can apply such as shields, psyche gel and ranger wings amongst others. Expect to pay for these via in app coins and payments.
As I mentioned earlier the game is broken up with a few enemy battles. In these you must defeat human and animal enemies in epic battles. This breaks up the runner nature of the rest of the game and reminds you that you not playing just another Temple Run.
The game is available for Android and iOS devices, see a full review below courtesy of IGN.
